Is it an addiction or a habit?
So let’s look for a minute at the difference between an addiction and a habit. A habit is something you do out of choice, so we could say that’s how most addictions start, biting your nails is a habit, chewing gum can be a habit, folding clothes a certain way, I think you get the point. On the other hand an addiction involves a chemical that alters the body and makes the body become dependent on it. With an addiction you become so dependent on the chemical that you will do whatever it takes to get the next hit. You will roll pennies, sell things, go without food, and some even steal and far worse to feed their addiction. An addiction is something that your brain and body say they cannot live without.
Where does addiction begin?
Most, not all, but most addictions begin because there is a void of some kind within the spirit. For me I needed something that was mine, something no one could take away or control. All of my life I had been controlled by one form or another, from sexual abuse, to several badly abusive relationships. My addiction happened to be smoking, and to begin with I was only going to smoke one. I was with my first husband, we had a new baby, and he was extremely abusive both physically and mentally, and in came my rescuer with a cherry on top. It calmed my nerves, and it was something no one could choose for me to do or not to do, it was my choice and my choice alone. No matter what time of day or what the situation I knew I could run and grab a cigarette, and so I did, for 22 years. I was 16 when I started smoking and I am now 40 years old and through building a relationship with Jesus I now realize that a cigarette was never what I needed, but that my spirit man was crying out for Jesus and a personal relationship with him.
Standing at a crossroad………
So you want to stop leaning on an addiction and start walking with Jesus. He’s the healer mentally, physically, and spiritually. First understand this road is not easy, it takes a lot of time alone, it takes a lot of prayer, but it is more than worth it. The very first step to the healing that needs to take place is being honest with your own self. First admit that you are an addict not to others but to yourself. It’s like standing in front of a mirror and allowing everything both good and bad to be revealed. Jesus is looking for honesty because he cannot help you with something that you aren’t even willing to admit. Jesus is looking for you to call upon him for help, and when you do the light that shines is simply amazing.

What I Believe
I know it's been quite sometime since I have blogged, but today my heart is broken and I feel the need to share the reasons why. I know there are some that will disagree, this isn't about having a debate. This is simply me sharing my heart, and what I believe.
A few weeks ago there was controversy all over the internet in regards to the supreme courts decision to make same sex marriage legal. Why then did no one come forward to say, why aren't we worried about the homeless and abortions, but nope.......Believe me you can state facts all day long, show biblical scriptures to back up your beliefs, but there is not a gay person anywhere that does not know how Christians believe about being gay, and they have made a choice. I am not here to judge homosexuals, and I can not and will not shove my beliefs down someone's throat. Continue reading and you will see my point, trust me it's worth it.....
Then after this whole controversy there was the rebel flags...my my what a crisis....What I don't care??? You are sadly mistaken, I do care! I was born and raised in the south, and I know all of what the rebel flag stands for, however I fail to see how a flag will make or break who we are on the inside. Again no one came out screaming about how flags were everywhere and everyone was talking about those and why we weren't discussing more important issues....Why weren't we worried about the starving, homeless, abused, neglected????
Now today my face book shouts out with people asking why some of us are more worried about the life of one lion as opposed to starving, homeless, and aborted babies. So let me try to show you where my heart is in this whole matter. First of all let me clarify some things, I am not now nor will I ever be Anti-Hunting, ah to the contrary, I totally agree with hunting for the purpose of food, and God gave us permission to do so. What I have never nor will never agree with is taking somethings life for meaningless reasons, such as the use of mounting a head on the wall, using skin for rugs, or the many other pointless reasons one can find to gain pleasure from taking a life. Are there people who would rather worry about animals than people? Yes! However everyone isn't that way. I believe that we are all connected to each other, that all of God's creation is equally important, and that taking somethings life for pure pleasure is beyond wrong it's sick. Babies being torn apart and ripped from inside their mother's womb, and animals being abused and left for dead. It's all wrong it's all sad and it all breaks my heart.
We are all connected in the Circle of Life! We are all God's creation, and We ALL Matter!
Without wildlife and plant life we can not survive. Someone has to have care and compassion for all things! We are not all the same, we ALL have a special purpose!
